Every journey is exhausting…

Kind-hearted people have taken the time to suggest that Maya may be eligible for hospital transport — and we truly appreciate it.
Patient Transport is a service provided by G4S on behalf of the NHS Integrated Care Board for Kent and Medway. It is designed to support you if your medical or physical condition means you cannot use public transport, get a lift, or drive yourself to, and from, your NHS appointment. people who are unlikely to qualify for this service are usually those who:
• Can take public transport or a taxi
• Can drive themselves or get a lift to their NHS appointment
• Do not have difficulty getting around
Unfortunately, hospital transport can actually be quite difficult for Maya. Because of her autism (ASD), she finds it very hard to cope with unfamiliar people and settings — having a stranger drive us can make her extremely anxious. It also reinforces that clinical feeling that she’s “that poorly,” which we try so hard to avoid.
Travelling by train to GOSH or by car to The Royal Marsden (Sutton) or Southampton General gives her a small sense of normality. She loves looking out at the scenery, watching trains and people, and stopping by little counter shops like #lolascupcakes
or for a #bobatea 🧋 #Wagamama noodles or #harvester lunch treats along the way.
Those small things turn difficult hospital journeys into something a little more like a normal day out together.
It truly means a lot that you thought of us and wanted to help — your kindness never goes unnoticed. ❤️
Every journey is exhausting — physically, emotionally, and financially — but we keep going, because Maya deserves the best possible chance at healing.
You could still help by sharing Maya’s website, or by putting your “Bids for Maya”, or both!
Thank you so much! ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
