Help Keep Maya Home: Love and Comfort Through Cancer Relapse

Oct 11
2 min read

Maya had a blood transfusion on 15/9/2026 on Padua Ward at WHH [William Harvey Hospital]. Her blood counts have absolutely crashed — haemoglobin (Hb) went from 103 → 85→ 68. We’re waiting for repeat bloods before we know when her oral chemo can safely start again. And honestly? We’re terrified! Her bone marrow is getting a little breathing space while chemo is paused, and her mucositis (mouth ulcers, gut ulcers) is starting to settle… but now we’re looking at Maya’s eyes today and the whites don’t look white to us. With the new liver involvement, our minds are going everywhere. We don’t know what’s happening yet, and that waiting is soul-crushing. This little girl has been fighting neuroblastoma since she was 3 years old. She’s survived relapse after relapse, and even two ICU admissions after CAR-T. Somehow, she keeps getting back up. But Terry and I? We’re exhausted. We’re frightened. And some days it honestly feels like we could break at any moment.

So please, if you can’t donate, share Maya’s story.

Please share it again.

Please. Send it to someone. Help us shout her name beyond our little corner of the world.

Maya has fought fiercely for 10 years. She deserves the world to see just how extraordinary she is. Please keep sharing. Please keep Maya’s story moving.
