The Day Her Toes Moved

Since November 2025, when Maya’s “brain went to sleep,” we have been tickling her feet. Every single day. It became a ritual looking for hope. A whispered prayer disguised as a tickle. And for months, nothing. No movement in her legs. No response. Just waiting. Watching. Hoping.
On 15th February, I gently tickled her foot again. And something happened…Her toes moved!
Tiny. Subtle. But undeniable.
After months of nothing, there it was — a flicker. A reflex. A sign that somewhere inside her incredible body, signals are still travelling. Still fighting.
I cried in a way only parents in crisis understand. The kind of tears that carry grief, exhaustion, fear and hope all tangled together. No, she cannot move her legs yet. No, we are not “there.”
But those toes wiggled!
And when you have been staring at stillness for months, movement feels like a miracle.
This warrior girl has endured EMGs, MRIs under general anaesthetic, bone marrow biopsies, MIBG scans, transfusions, ICANS, HLH — things most adults would struggle to survive.
And yet, she still finds ways to show us she is here. Still fighting. Still Maya.
Sometimes hope doesn’t roar. Sometimes it wiggles!
🩷 Please Help Us Keep Fighting 💜
If Maya’s story gives you hope, please share it. Help us reach more people. Help us build the army she deserves.
And if you are able to donate, every contribution helps us continue this relentless fight — for treatment, for care, for stability during months where life has not paused but our world has.
THANK YOU ALL for standing with our warrior.
“Hope is the smallest light that refuses to go out.”
And right now, that light is Maya’s wiggling toes!!!
