Last night, 15th October 2025, was one of those truly magical nights for Maya — and honestly, it was so hard to get her to leave! She knows she’s going to miss the next event, which really broke her little heart 🥺.
With her CAR T-cell therapy coming up at Great Ormond Street Hospital (28th October–18th November), the next few weeks are going to be intense. The treatment is incredibly demanding, and she’ll be closely monitored in ITU. But last night, for a few precious hours, all of that could be put on pause.
I failed to bring Maya back home early because Maya was having the best time. Sure, there was a proper, loud, and emotional meltdown around midnight — she screamed “I hate you” to everyone, kicked the wall, and stomped her feet down the stairs. (Pretty much expected these days!) I wonder what the neighbours would think!
But after letting all that energy out, Maya settled. She played a few rounds of UNO with Daddy and eventually drifted off to sleep 😴.
Today, her calm morning has been a welcome contrast. Home Ed teacher Sue shared:
“She has had a calm morning — we’ve sorted out the cabin with art things, collected and painted leaves, enjoyed some fizzy drinks with her new wobble board, and spent time on reading poems and maths. Keeping it calm.”
Moments like these matter so much. Despite all the challenges, what counts is that Maya felt joy, felt seen, and belonged. 🌈
For children like Maya, who are neurodivergent and navigating both the world and a serious illness, these little sparks of happiness — the music, the dancing,
the laughter — are priceless. They remind us all why we fight to create spaces where every child can truly belong.
